Boat rides in Bruges run all year, offering a charming way to explore the canals. Especially in summer, it’s a relaxing and scenic must-do for guests looking to enjoy the city from the water.

Lightshow on the marketsquare of Bruges

From 1 to 11 July 2026, the Belfry will form the backdrop for a free prestigious light show. Through sound and visual projections, two stories are told. There will be 22 shows over 11 evenings.

The first performance, at 10:45 PM, focuses on the turbulent relationship between Bruges and the sea with “A Story of ebb and flow”: from the silting up of the Zwin to the cultural revival of a city once described as “la Morte”.

At 11:15 PM, the Belfry brings to life, with “The Story of Bruges”, the rich history of Bruges and Flanders, as well as the role Bruges has played in Flanders economically and internationally.

Every Saturday from July 4th to August 29th from 6PM to 10PM, the courtyard at Vismarkt comes alive with summer energy!

Salsa de Brujas brings a fresh DJ each week, spinning Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, and Merengue for a vibrant, ever-changing party atmosphere.

De Brugse Zandfeesten

The Bruges Sand Festival, held on the July 5th, August 2nd and September 27th, features a wide variety of antiques and curiosities. Stalls line the area from the railway station to ‘t Zand, open from 6 AM to 6 PM. Visitors can enjoy shopping, food, and drinks in a lively summer atmosphere.

On the 10th, 11th & 12th of July, the Lake of Love Park in Bruges transforms from a quiet place to sit down and read a book into the well-known, bustling, music festival that is Cactusfestival.

Brugge Feest 2026

From July 19 to July 21, Bruges celebrates the Belgian National Day with ‘Brugge Feest’, a lively three-day musical event right in the historic Market Square (Grote Markt). Expect a festive atmosphere filled with live music performances. The absolute highlight takes place on the evening of July 21st with ‘Brugge Zingt’, a massive open-air sing-along event led by a conductor, Nick Blontrock. It is a fantastic opportunity for visitors to experience the local culture and vibrant community spirit.

Cirque plus is back with it’s 19th edition this year. It’ll take place from the 24th of July up until the 26th of July in Grootseminarie, City Centre. Enjoy a day filled with acrobatic arts, clowns and much more in this free open air multi-day circus.

Cathedral Festival 2026

Concert – Levente Kuzma

On July 24th from 20:30 to 22:00, Hungarian organist Levente Kuzma presents a programme showcasing his international career and wide-ranging repertoire. Born in Sweden and trained in Szeged, he has won several international competitions and performs regularly at major festivals around the world.

An acclaimed performer and professor, Kuzma appears with leading orchestras and explores music from the Renaissance to contemporary works, including world premieres by Hungarian composers. He currently serves as organ professor at the University of Szeged and artistic director of the cathedral concert series in Szeged.

Concert – Jordi Figaró i Voltà & Juan Paradell Solé

On 28 July from 20:30 to 22:00, Jordi Figaró i Voltà, professor at the Barcelona Conservatory and the ESMUC, is an acclaimed performer on the tenora, flabiol, and cobla, with performances across Europe and beyond. He has contributed to over 70 recordings and performs as a soloist with several leading orchestras.

Juan Paradell Solé is an internationally renowned organist and former titular organist of the Sistine Chapel Choir in the Vatican, with a distinguished career across Europe and the Americas. He is also a respected teacher and award recipient for his contributions to sacred music.

MA Festival is a celebrated summer festival dedicated to early and classical music, running from July 31st until August 9th in Bruges and its scenic countryside. From grand concerts at the Concertgebouw to intimate performances in local churches and musical bike rides, it offers something for everyone. Benenwerk ‘Ballroom Brugeoise’ is back on Saturday, 8th of August 2026! This year, it’s part of a week long festival. Dance through Bruges city centre with live bands and DJs playing across multiple stages. Enjoy a lively dance marathon and show off your best moves all day long.

De Brugse Belofte

De Brugse Belofte is an enchanting historical procession held on Friday, August 15th. Starting at 9:30 AM at the Basilica of the Holy Blood, this free event fills the streets of Bruges with a majestic, reflective atmosphere. Expect beautifully costumed participants, traditional chants, and the symbolic carrying of a 36-pound candle to the Blindekens chapel. Discover a hidden cultural gem of Bruges that has been celebrated continuously for over 700 years.

Kaasmarkt (Cheesemarket) 2026

On Sunday, September 6, 2026, Bruges hosts its annual Cheese Market at ’t Zand. From 9:30 AM to 5 PM, guests can sample over 100 cheeses, enjoy local wines and beers, and soak up the festive atmosphere. A perfect local event for food lovers!

Bruges Beer Festival

The 18th Bruges Beer Festival takes place on 12–13 September 2026 at the BMCC in Bruges. Around 50 breweries will present about 350 beers, from classics to exclusive specials, near the historic city center.

This festive edition celebrates 10 years of Belgian beer culture as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Entry is free, with tasting glasses and tokens available on site, and live music on Saturday.

Refik Anadol: 08/05/2026 – 08/11/2026

Internationally renowned new media artist Refik Anadol brings a groundbreaking exhibition to BRUSK. Known for large-scale digital installations created with artificial intelligence, this marks his first major presentation in Belgium and the opening exhibition of the venue.

This exhibition explores Bruges as a medieval global hub, shaped by trade, culture, and political connections. It highlights how the city’s links with other regions made it a key player in world history.

Breedbeeld: Reis mee met de monsters (+6): 08/05/2026 – 06/09/2026

A fun, interactive exhibition for children where young visitors can search for sea monsters that have escaped from a book. Explore different worlds using your senses and enjoy a free activity trail at the start.
